Child Safeguarding Statement

MTU Arena is committed to providing a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where all children and young people who attend our facility feel protected and supported.

We believe that the welfare of children is paramount and that all children, regardless of age, ability, gender, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation, have the right to be protected from harm.

Our Commitment:

  • We take all necessary steps to safeguard children from abuse and neglect.
  • We ensure that our staff and volunteers are carefully selected, trained, and supported to work with children.
  • We promote open communication, encouraging children and parents/guardians to report concerns.
  • We follow national child protection legislation and guidance in all safeguarding matters.

Key Safeguarding Principles:

  1. Prevention: We provide safe activities, supervision, and clear behaviour expectations.
  2. Protection: We have procedures in place for reporting and responding to concerns about a child’s safety or welfare.
  3. Partnership: We work in partnership with parents, guardians, and local safeguarding agencies.

Our Safeguarding Practices Include:

  • Appointing Designated Liaison Persons (DLP).
  • Requiring staff and volunteers working with children to undergo appropriate background checks.
  • Providing child safeguarding training for all relevant personnel.
  • Implementing a Code of Conduct for interactions with children.
  • Keeping accurate records of incidents and concerns.
  • Ensuring appropriate supervision ratios during children’s activities or classes.
